15/01/2026

The Order of Malta is pleased to share the recording of the Our Lady of Philermos Rose hymn, “Your Beauty So Bright,” as featured at the 2025 Carols for Peace held at Sydney Town Hall.

This beautiful and prayerful hymn formed part of a moving evening that brought members of the community together to pray for peace and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. Carols for Peace is an annual event that combines sacred music, reflection, and prayer, creating a powerful witness to hope and unity.

A Special Moment of Prayer and Remembrance

The 2025 Carols for Peace included a Bondi Commemoration, attended by Governor-General HE The Hon Sam Mostyn AC, adding a solemn and reflective dimension to the evening. The hymn “Your Beauty So Bright” resonated deeply within this context, offering a moment of reverence and beauty through music.

About the Hymn

“Your Beauty So Bright” is the Our Lady of Philermos Rose hymn of the Order of Malta. The text was written by Order of Malta member David Macintosh and the music was composed by Christine McCarthy, mother of the Order’s Chaplain, Father James McCarthy.

Together, the words and music reflect devotion to Our Lady and the Order’s commitment to faith, service, and peace.
