A Warm Welcome to Our Newest Knight

10/10/2025

The Australian Association of the Sovereign Order of Malta is delighted to welcome its newest Knight, Morgan O’Brien, who was recently invested in a moving ceremony held in Auckland, New Zealand.

Morgan has been engaged with the work of the Order for over six years. His service has focused on supporting people experiencing homelessness in Auckland’s central city. Through regular outreach — offering essential items and, more importantly, meaningful conversation — Morgan has been a consistent presence for those living on the margins.

In his professional life, Morgan serves as Head of Technical at an international food manufacturing company — a role requiring oversight of Research and Development, and Quality Control.

Reflecting on his investiture, Morgan shares:

“The Order represents the fulfillment of a profound desire to be part of something greater than myself in the service of the Lord. Its unique nature allows married men like me to serve as active pillars of our beloved Church. The Order is both international in its reach and sovereign in spirit, thinking globally while acting locally. My personal path in the Order to become a full member has taken many years, and I am honoured to be accepted into its service.”

We celebrate Morgan’s dedication, faith, and perseverance, and warmly welcome him to our  Order.
