Project update: Ambulance for the Order’s medical clinic in Maubara
The money raised for this appeal will be used to complete some work required on the vehicles and the purchase of equipment for their fit-out.
As we have two ambulances, we will be able to provide an ambulance to the Order’s clinic in Maubara and a medical clinic in Bebonuk (a very poor suburb on the ourskirts of the capital Dili). We expect both ambulances to be operating by the end of August.
Combined, the Maubara and Bebonuk clinics provide primary health care for over 1,200 families who would not normally have access to medical services. The provision of an ambulance to these facilities will enable access to the clinic for those who are unable to travel there themselves and will ensure those needing further treatment can be transported to the hospital. We will also be using the vehicles to supplement the National Ambulance Service which is drastically under-resourced.
Thank you to everyone who donated to this project that will have such a huge impact on the people living in these communities.
