Give a gift this Christmas that will benefit the homeless, low-income families, elderly and disadvantaged

As we approach the end of 2024 and start preparations for Christmas, I wanted to ask you to consider a Christmas gift to the homeless, low-income families, elderly and disadvantaged we assist through our works.
We have experienced an increase in demand for all our services and this Christmas, more than ever, the Order of Malta seeks your assistance in providing hope to those who are struggling.
In 2024 the increase in the cost-of-living and lack of affordable housing has resulted in a significant rise in the numer of people seeking our Coats for the Homeless and hygiene packs. Need is exceeding supply.
Demand for our food services continues to grow, especially from low-income families and the elderly. Our guests report that they frequently skip meals between services due to soaring food prices.
Those we meet at our Mobile Community Café comment how important our weekly visits are as they feel increasing isolated. Transport costs or social activities are simply unaffordable, and they feel they have no other choice than to stay at home, alone.
For all these groups, Christmas can be particularly difficult, and our services provide not only practical support but important, compassionate interactions with our volunteers.
Cost of living increases have also impacted the expenses to deliver our projects and the increase in demand has compounded the need for additional funds to run these projects. We need your help.
I am asking that this Christmas you give a gift to help people who are struggling.
With your support, in 2025 our volunteers will:
- Distribute 4,000 Coats for the Homeless and hygiene packs nationwide
- Provide weekly outreach services to the homeless through our Community Care Van services in NSW and VIC
- Provide regular food services in NSW, QLD and NT for the homeless and disadvantaged
- Open a new ‘drop-in’ Community Care Centre in QLD, providing meals, clothing and services to the homeless and low-income families.
- Continue twice weekly visits to low-income seniors through our Mobile Community Care Café in VIC.
Please consider a Christmas gift to help us continue our work. Your kindness and generosity will provide hands-on practical support to those who need it most.
Together we can bring hope to those less fortunate this Christmas.
