About the Order of Malta

The Order of Malta is a lay religious order of the Catholic Church. For more than 900 years, it has served people who are sick, vulnerable and in need. Operating in more than 120 countries, the Order provides medical and social care, humanitarian assistance and emergency relief.

In Australia, our work includes programs supporting people experiencing homelessness, palliative care initiatives, a free medical clinic in Timor-Leste, and emergency appeals responding to disasters and conflict.

 

About the opportunity

The activities of Order of Malta Australia is growing, with increasing opportunities to support people in need.

We’re seeking an experienced Fundraising Manager to develop and deliver a fundraising strategy that builds sustainable income that supports our existing programs and enables new initiatives.

Reporting to the Development and Communications Manager, you’ll take ownership of the fundraising program, build strong relationships and turn strategy into measurable results.

This role will suit an experienced, hands-on fundraising professional, ideally with not-for-profit experience.

 

Key responsibilities

You will:

  • Develop and execute fundraising and income-generation plans across a diverse portfolio of projects and initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities across a range of fundraising streams, including regular giving, bequests, grants, events, major gifts and corporate partnerships.
  • Work closely with the Development and Communications Manager to integrate fundraising, communications and messaging across relevant channels.
  • Ensure consistency of brand identity, messaging and tone across fundraising communications.
  • Build strong relationships with donors, supporters, corporate partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Meet appropriate measures and KPIs for fundraising activities and provide regular reporting to the Executive.
  • Monitor fundraising performance, identify opportunities for improvement and continually refine activity to maximise impact and return on investment.

 

About you

We are looking for a talented, energetic and innovative fundraising professional who is comfortable working autonomously, can manage multiple priorities and enjoys the opportunity to take ownership of your work.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Proven experience delivering successful income generating activities and campaigns, with a strong focus on return on investment.
  • Demonstrated end-to-end campaign management experience, from strategy and planning through to delivery, evaluation and reporting.
  • Experience working in fundraising/marketing, ideally within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Knowledge and exposure to a range of fundraising streams, such as grants, regular giving, events, major gifts, bequests and corporate partnerships.
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple projects.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial approach and the confidence to identify opportunities and turn them into action.

You do not need to be a practising Catholic to undertake this role. An appreciation of, and respect for, the Order’s Catholic identity and values is important.
