Queensland Branch host annual Lourdes Healing Mass
Saturday 2nd May saw the Queensland Branch of the Order of Malta host its annual Lourdes Healing Mass.
Seventeen Knights and Dames including the National President, Confrere Dr Ian Marshal and a number of our growing Young Order of Malta Volunteers were present to assist a near capacity gathering at St Paschal’s Church, Wavell Heights. Presiding were three of our devoted chaplains, Fathers Gerard McMorrow, Morgan Batt and David Pascoe assisted by Fr Harry Moore SM and Fr James O’Donoghue.
The attendance was especially pleasing following the previous day’s extraordinarily bad weather in Brisbane, with many people advising they could not attend. The Mass was a faith filled celebration of Our Lord’s grace and healing love. So many of the attendees were in need of physical, mental and spiritual healing and gained strength and comfort from prayer and sacramental anointing. The music was a combination of some of the more traditional hymns and well as hymns with the message of God’s love for those who bear the cross of illness and injury.
The distribution of Lourdes Water and Rosary packs was greatly appreciated by all who attended. The Queensland Branch thanks the parish of Our Lady of Angels, Wavell Heights and West Chermside for their hospitality and assistance with this celebration. The Parish’s contribution to the Order’s Lourdes Healing Mass is a keystone to an inspiring Eucharist.
