Warmth for Ukraine: Urgent winter support for families in Kyiv

05/02/2026

As you may be aware, following Russia’s recent attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, approximately one million residents of Kyiv are currently without heating or electricity. Temperatures have plunged to as low as –25°C. More than 1,100 residential buildings are without heat, and many high-rise apartments rely entirely on electric cookers, leaving families unable to prepare even a hot meal during prolonged power outages.

Public emergency shelters can accommodate only 10–15% of the city’s population, forcing most families – children, the elderly, and the vulnerable – to endure freezing conditions in their own homes.

Warmth for Ukraine: how you can help

In response, the relief organisation of the Polish Association of the Order of Malta, working closely with the Malteser Ukraine team, is preparing an urgent shipment of portable cooking and heating equipment to Kyiv. This first delivery will support approximately 2,500 families.

Your gift can make an immediate difference:

  • $50 helps provide basic warmth supplies for one person
  • $100 supplies a family with hot water bottles and chemical warmers
  • $150 provides a portable gas stove and fuel, enabling a family to cook hot meals
  • $500 helps equip multiple families with essential heating and cooking support
