Urgent aid needed following strike on the Catholic parish in Gaza
Overnight an attack was carried out that struck the Catholic parish of the Holy Family in Gaza. This parish is at the heart of the humanitarian aid provided in Gaza by the Order of Malta, through Malteser International, in collaboration with the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
The site was sheltering around 600 displaced people, many of them children and 54 with special needs.
The Order of Malta expresses its full solidarity with the parish priest, Father Gabriel Romanelli, and the civilians injured in today’s raid on the place of worship. The Order stands with the families of those affected and will continue to provide aid to the civilians impacted by this conflict
The previously urgent situation is now dire.
Since May 2024, 200 tonnes of food have been delivered to sustain more than 25,000 members of the civilian population, and the opening of a health care centre to serve the local community is currently in preparation.
This is in addition to the Order of Malta’s work operating the maternity facility, Holy Family Hospital in Bethlehem and ongoing humanitarian and healthcare programs in Lebanon.
Please consider a donation to support our work in the Holy Land assisting the innocent civilians impacted by this conflict.
