“The Lord Hears the Cry of the Poor”

A Reflection on Pope Leo XIV’s Apostolic Exhortation Dilexi Te

Recording: Reflection with Bishop Joe Caddy – 22 Nov 2025 – Pope Leo XIV’s Apostolic Exhortation Dilexi Te

Most Rev Joe Caddy AM, Bishop of the Diocese of Cairns

Magistral Chaplain Order of Malta

Viewers are invited to deepen their encounter with Christ’s love for the poor, as illuminated by Pope Leo XIV’s Apostolic Exhortation Dilexi Te (4 October 2025). Bishop Caddy encouraged us to read the document. The session explores how encountering the poor reveals Christ’s heart and calls us to concrete action.

Bishop Caddy offers these for us to ponder on:

  • God chooses those whom the world overlooks. As members of the Order, how active are we in choosing what God chooses? If God chooses the poor, how can we not?
  • How might the poor teach me to be a better follower of Christ?
  • Faith and Justice together build the civilisation of love, where no one is left behind.

Next Hour of Reflection will be led by Most Rev Charles Gauci, Bishop of Darwin and NT on Saturday 6 December 2025.
