Survival bags and wheelchairs distributed in Thailand

04/09/2023

Since 2016, the Order of Malta Thailand has been running ‘The Wheelchair Project’. The project involves wheelchairs being purchased and distributed to the sick and poor in towns and remote villages. The wheelchairs provide the recipients with greater independence as they are otherwise usually reliant on family to move from their beds.

This year, members were able to donate 96 wheelchairs throughout the provinces. They were also able to deliver a much needed bed and walker.
In August, members also flew to Ubon Ratchathani to donate 22 survival bags (dry food, rice, eggs, cooking oil, etc) water and pampers to the elderly. During there visit they also investigated an opportunity to assist at a Day Centre visited by 30 elderly meet 3 times a week to chat, do light excercises, disscuss current topics and get a healthy lunch.
