Return to service at new ECM premises
Sunday the 14th of July saw Order of Malta members and volunteers return to Emmanuel City Mission (ECM) to continue service to guests suffering disadvantage in and around the Brisbane CBD.
This was the first time the service was from ECM’s new facilities in Cordelia St, South Brisbane.
Order member Michael was most impressive as he became a serious barista after a few hours of training. Guests enjoyed his long blacks, flat whites, and frothy cappuccinos. The ever-popular BBQ has been set up as a permanent fixture in the open courtyard, making service to guests far easier and appreciated.
Members and volunteers were also involved in preparing and serving porridge, serving toast and facilitating an urgently needed phone card for a guest in distress. Special thanks to Magistral Deacon Adam for his BBQing skills at short notice.
The Order of Malta congratulates ECM on their perseverance in working towards the new facilities. The benefits to their guests are a major motivator for ECM’s endeavours and plans.
