ABOUT THE ROLE:

Summary of the role:

Join Mercy’s friendly team and provider of palliative care services in the western suburbs of Melbourne. Their aim is to maximise the quality of life of our patients by the provision of high standard palliative care in the community.

Based in Sunshine, you will work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide support, supervision and education to volunteers working in Mercy Health’s palliative care services and promote palliative care and volunteering. You will support Mercy Health and the collaboration with the Order of Malta in strengthening the existing palliative care volunteer program and quality palliative care delivery in Melbourne’s west.

 

ABOUT YOU:

  • Experience working with and managing volunteers
  • Experience in adult education development and delivery
  • Demonstrated interest and commitment to palliative care and in working with a multi-disciplinary palliative care team
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with the roles of health care professionals
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities

Mercy Palliative Care is a community palliative care service operating in the Western region of Melbourne and provides a holistic multidisciplinary approach to palliative care. We provide psychological and spiritual support, caring for people of all ages with life-limiting illnesses in their homes as well as complex symptom management. We currently care for over 500 patients across the region in their own homes.
