QLD Coats for the Homeless Breakfast 2017
More than 170 enthusiastic supporters joined Brisbane Archbishop Mark Coleridge in braving the elements to attend the Order of Malta’s Coats for the Homeless Breakfast on 30 March.
The Coats for the Homeless program – an initiative of the Order of Malta – will see some 2000 specially designed winter coats distributed to the homeless of South East Queensland over the coming months. The coats are distributed directly to the homeless with the assistance of outreach organisations such as Rosies. General Manager of Rosies, Andrew O’Brien, eloquently described the very practical assistance which the coats provide to those in need.
Guest speaker Damien Frawley, Chief Executive of the Queensland Investment Corporation, provided an overview of QIC’s operations, with special emphasis on its commitment to ethical investment and encouragement of philanthropy. Order of Malta Queensland Branch Chair, Justice Martin Daubney, thanked attendees for their generous support, with more than $10,000 raised at this year’s breakfast.
