Mission to the First Nations community of Daly River–Naiyu
On Saturday 3 May, members of the Order of Malta in Darwin travelled to Daly River – Naiyu, where they distributed blankets and food items. The mission was jointly organised with the St Vincent de Paul Society (NT), who provided clothes, soft toys for children and other needed items.
It was a special time of grace and fraternal joy with our First Nations Brothers and Sisters. Father Ched, from St Mary Cathedral Parish, was the principle celebrant at Mass, which was attended by the Sisters of Nazareth, the African Community, our committed volunteer Kieran and two of the Australian Association’s newest members Jocelyn and Graeme.
The Order of Malta would like to acknowledge Mercy Chepkoech for the organisation of this mission with St Vincent de Paul Society.
Our next visit to the First Nations Communities of Emu Point and Tiwi Islands is planned for late September to early October.
