Help us give children in Timor-Leste the opportunities of an education
For almost ten years the Order of Malta has run a scholarship program called Creating Leaders in Timor-Leste to assist disadvantaged children continue in formal continuing education.
In addition to paying for the students’ school fees and uniforms, the Creating Leaders Scholarships also include transport and lunches to remove potential barriers that might limit the children’s participation,
Currently we have nine children in the program, ranging from academic years 7 to 12. All the children come from low-income families with multiple siblings. Amongst these students we have aspiring doctors, teachers, and a veterinarian.
Without the support from the Creating Leaders scholarship, these promising students would be unable to continue in formal education. This project makes a real difference to their lives and prospects, and we have several success stories from our graduates.
We currently have five further children (pictured) who meet the criteria for the scholarships and we are seeking donations to this project to enter these children into the program.
To fund both the new and existing students for the next 12 months, we need to raise $17,000.
Sponsoring a child in the Creating Leaders Program costs $100 a month.
