Creating Leaders Student profile – meet Agusta

Agusta is 16 is one of our new Order of Malta Creating Leaders Scholarship students who joined the program this year.

Agusta’s parents are farmers in a rural village and the crops they grow are primarily for their family’s consumption, with little surplus for sale or trade.  Augusta her three siblings are currently living with their uncle in Dili so that they can attend school. Their uncle, who earns US$200 per month currently covers their financial needs.

Agusta has career aspirations to become a teacher, and the Creating Leaders Scholarship will enable her to complete her secondary education at the High School of Saint Magdalene of Canossa, Manleuana in Dili. The scholarship covers her school fees and transportation costs.

Agusta is one of 10 new students joining the Creating Leaders program in 2025, bring the total number of students active in the program to 19.

Creating Leaders is an Order of Malta scholarship program in Timor-Leste. The Scholarships support underprivileged children to participate in formal continuing education.

The Creating Leaders scholarship provides not only the payment of school fees, but the cost of uniforms, transport and school lunches.  

Gifts $2 and more are tas deductible for Australian taxpayers.
