2025 Lourdes Mass in Adelaide

18/02/2025

On Saturday 8 February, over 400 people attended the Order of Malta Australia Lourdes Mass was held at St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral in Adelaide.

The Mass was celebrated by Fr Lancy D’silva together with Order chaplain Fr Allan Winter and priests of the Archdiocese of Adelaide. Members also attended to distribute Holy Water and speak to parishioners about the work of the Order.
Regional Hospitaller, Confrere Noel Mifsud, was invited to speak to the congregation about the history and work of the Order, where he reflected on the words of our former Grand Master Fra’ Giacomo Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto spoken in Lourdes in 2018:

“We stand together here in Lourdes, which casts its own influence on us. We meditate on the miracle of Bernadette and the miracles that have been wrought here so many times over so many years. Since the wondrous apparition of Mary to the little 14-year-old in 1858, those experiences have had a profound impact on the world. We reflect on what a miracle is: It may not be a cure, but it may be a grace given to all pilgrims who come here—the miracle of serenity in the love of the Virgin Mary, the miracle of unconditional kindness to others, the miracle of tolerance, and the miracle that helps us understand that we are part of the same great spiritual family.”

Order of Malta Lourdes Mass Celebrations

A pilgrimage to Lourdes represents one of the most significant moments in the spiritual life of the Order’s members and volunteers, and each year Lourdes dedicates the first weekend in May for the Annual Pilgrimage of the International Order of Malta.

For Australians unable to visit Lourdes, Lourdes Day Mass celebrations are held annually in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide where those attending receive a blessing for good health and a bottle of Lourdes water for their personal use.

All are welcome to attend these special celebrations.
