Philermos House Officially Opens in Southport, Queensland
A new chapter in the Order of Malta’s mission of service began in Southport, Queensland, with the official opening and blessing of Philermos House.
Around 150 members and volunteers of the Order of Malta, together with parishioners, donors, family and friends, gathered this morning to mark this significant milestone and give thanks to all who helped bring the initiative to life.
The Order was honoured to welcome the Most Reverend Shane Mackinlay DD, Archbishop of Brisbane, who blessed the premises and delivered a homily. The gathering also included hymns, creating an atmosphere of prayer, fellowship and thanksgiving.
Conf. John Murphy, President of the Order of Malta Australia, addressed those present and shared a letter from the Grand Master, Fra’ John T. Dunlap, congratulating all those whose generosity, dedication and commitment had made Philermos House possible.
These services are intended to provide practical assistance and a place of welcome for people facing difficult circumstances, helping them meet essential daily needs with dignity and respect.
