BBQs at Medical Units – Sydney
Our volunteers undertake BBQs at Tierney House Homeless service and Gorman House Drug and Alcohol Detoxification unit 3 times a week to socialise with residents. The units are in Darlinghurst and are part of St Vincent’s Hospital.
Together the residents and volunteers cook and serve the BBQS and in doing so, residents are provided with important social interaction during their time at the units.
The BBQs are held on Wednesday at 5pm, Saturday at midday and Sunday at 11am, and last approximately an hour and a half. Two to three volunteers attend each BBQ and first timers are paired with experienced volunteers.
