Volunteers in Sydney distribute special gift to homeless for World Day of the Poor

Community Care Van volunteers in Sydney last week gifted the homeless they encountered with insect repellant, in addition to the hygiene packs, water, sun protection and Coats for the Homeless normally distributed. This initiative was one of many of undertaken by Members and volunteers of the Order of Malta worldwide to commemorate and support the second World Day of the Poor.

The second World Day of the Poor, which fell on Sunday 18 November, was established by the Holy Father Francis with the theme ‘let us love, not with words but with deeds’.

World Day of the Poor is like every other day – except we unite to bring awareness to the 700 million people experiencing poverty all over the world.
