Upcoming Lourdes Day Mass Celebrations

05/09/2012

In the first weekend of May every year, Members of the Order from all over the world travel to Lourdes to accompany the sick and disabled to pray and bathe in the holy waters. Because the journey to France is often arduous and expensive many Australians are unable to make the pilgrimage. Consequently, Members of the Order have tried to bring Lourdes to the malades (the sick) in Australia at annual Lourdes Day Mass celebrations.

The mass, which distributes Lourdes water and anoints the sick, is celebrated in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane and is open to everyone.

‘This event is a manifestation of the Order’s commitment to serve the sick and the poor” explains Communications Manager, Michelle Rees. “It is one way Members of the Order fulfill their mission to nurture, witness and protect the faith and of serving the poor and the sick representing the Lord.”

The dates and locations of this special mass are as follows:

Victoria – 1st December 2012 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral

Sydney – 1st December 2012 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 10am

Perth – Mass to be rescheduled in the New Year. Please continue to visit the website for details.

Adelaide – date in February 2013 TBC

Brisbane –  date in May 2013 TBC
