Scholarship students at a Christmas party organised by the Order of Malta Embassy in Timor-Leste

We are only half way through December and already many generous individuals are giving a Christmas gift to the less fortunate.

So far this month SEVEN more children have been sponsored through the Creating Leaders Sponsorship program. This has doubled our regular sponsor base and their gift of sponsorship has the potential to positively impact these children’s future.

The Creating Leaders program has only been running since 2015, however we have already seen fantastic achievements from our students. One of our earliest students, Maria Jose Sarmento, this year completed her education at the Portugese School of Dili with outstanding results. She is now going on to pursue her dream of a career in medicine and is such an inspiring example of what this Scholarship program can help children achieve.

Creating Leaders is an Order of Malta scholarship program in Timor-Leste. Like many developing countries, Timor-Leste has high levels of poverty and low national human development. Education is an important vehicle to employment, independence, social and political empowerment and consequently, national development. However, a cycle of poverty often creates barriers to the children’s participation in education.

The Scholarship supports underprivileged children to participate in formal continuing education.

Sponsoring a Child in the Creating Leaders Scholarship Program costs $70 a month.

Please consider sponsoring a child or making a donation to the project using the Paypal donation facility below:
