Over 50 Members attend Spiritual Formation Webinar by Chaplain Fr James McCarthy

25/07/2021

Report by Joseph Grogan

On Saturday July 24, Magistral Chaplain Fr James McCarthy hosted our first “Hour of  Reflection with a Chaplain” webinar. It was attended by over 50 Members, Candidates and friends of the Order of Malta in Australia, Hong Kong and Japan.

The presentation “Postures for Prayer” demystified the Spiritual, Scriptural and historical roots underscoring our physical worship movements during the Liturgy, Investitures, and private prayer.

Fr McCarthy deepened upon Biblical references, family memories and art to illuminate the humility and reverence imbued in our worship movements. He encouraged us to be mindful of how the ritualistic acts of standing, sitting and kneeling in prayer, draw us closer to God. Prayer is spiritual, intellectual and physical.

With strong positive feedback from attendees, more “Hour of Reflection with a Chaplain” sessions will follow.
