Order of Malta Volunteers serve with Emmanuel City Mission in Brisbane

22/02/2021

Order of Malta Volunteers (OMV) Australia is dedicated to “Caring for people in need – together”. We support different charitable ministries across Brisbane.

On the 21st February 2021, in the spirit of Lent, OMV commenced monthly service #volunteering with Emmanuel City Mission (EMC), in South Brisbane. This Sunday outreach engaged over 50 people in need.

We wish to acknowledge and thank ECM, especially the Curtis family, for providing a welcoming, spiritual and generous daytime sanctuary for the homeless and vulnerable of our city. To explore how you can support ECM please visit  https://emmanuelcitymission.com

OMV supports ECM in sharing communal conversation, quality meals and essential care in a safe and clean sanctuary.

We were humbly touched when a gentleman recognised the Maltese Cross and braved his speech impediment to express gratitude for the Order of Malta’s “Coats for the Homeless” program.

“Your coats are warm in Winter… water resistant… I use one as a pillow or blanket all year… wanted to say because… I think it should be commended”.

If you would like to discover more about volunteering with OMV, please register your interest.
