Order of Malta Members receive Motorsport Awards

09/03/2023

Confrere Derek Pingel was recently awarded Life Membership of Motorsport Australia, the highest honour one can receive in the Motorsport industry. This acknowledgement highlights Derek’s many decades of support and dedication to motorsport and its development in Australia.

Confrere Chris McMahon received the 2022 FIA Senior Official of the Year from the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), which is the governing body of motorsport in the world. McMahon becomes the second Australian Steward to claim this prestigious award.

Derek reflected, “It was indeed a great honour, and it was even more exciting and meaningful to be able to be together on the night to receive these awards. Very humbling indeed for both of us”.

Derek serves as the National Coordinator of the Order of Malta’s Coats for the Homeless project. Chris volunteers through the Order in serving people in need through the Emmanuel City Mission homeless sanctuary in Brisbane.
