Order of Malta Australia

Order of Malta Lenten program finale, Brisbane

Report by Joseph Grogan

Order of Malta Members and family of the North Eastern Region gathered weekly during Lent with kindred Members from the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, to share a galvanising Lenten program by our Magistral Chaplain Fr Gerard McMorrow.

Each talk brought to life the chronological events of the Holy Week, illuminating the Scriptural and political context of the Passion of Jesus Christ.

In his climactic presentation, Fr Gerard beautifully intertwined historical and theological perspectives, culminating in the Resurrection as detailed in the Gospel of Mark.

A very well presented program, supported by hundreds of slides, made it a treasured experience, improving our understanding of the Holy Week and welcoming Easter with enriched appreciation.

The providential timing of the final session enabled an impromptu, communal rendition of “Happy Birthday” for our industrious Hospitaller.
