Order of Malta donated Medical Van to health centre in Ubon Ratchathani

22/01/2020

Report by Arian Borg Cardona

“Last November when members were delivering much needed blankets and equipment to the villages affected by the great floods we visited a medical Centre for the elderly in Ubon Ratchathani to donate blankets, medicines and diapers.

We noticed that they had no vehicles to visit the sick at home or take them to the Centre for check ups or hospital. The nurses used their own motor cycles carrying oxygen tanks and medical equipment come rain or shine.

After enquiring we learned that the Centre have been trying for three years to get a vehicle  -second hand or new – without success.

The Order of Malta sprung into action and in no time an Aspirant donated a medical van to the Order.

On the morning of Monday 20th January 2020 at the Centre, Dr.Virachanee the President of the Order of Malta Thailand donated the Medical van in front of 300 offical guests from the Health Department and other government officials of Ubon Ratchathani.

After our Magistral Chaplain, Fr. Carlo blessed the van and the official ceremonies were over, we got into the van to visit the sick at their homes bringing with us diapers, medicines and the promise that the Order will continue to help them in their hour of need.”
