Order of Malta Australia

Malteser International Annual Report 2020

Malteser International are the international humanitarian relief agency of the Sovereign Order of Malta. For over 60 years, they have been standing by people affected by poverty, disease, conflict, and disaster – to help them to lead a healthy life with dignity.

In 2020, Malteser International reached vulnerable people in 32 countries through 138 development and humanitarian aid projects. The Corona pandemic and advancing climate change have dramatically worsened the situation for people in need: In many of our 32 project countries, development progress of two decades is in danger of being lost.

More about Malteser International:

Malteser International undertake emergency relief in crisis such as natural disasters, epidemics, and armed conflicts. They support the most vulnerable, including refugees and displaced persons, to protect their health by strengthening medical structures in their service, encouraging disaster risk reduction, and ensuring access to good nutrition, safe water, sanitation and hygiene. Their long-term transitional aid and development programs empower communities affected by crisis to boost their resilience and transform their lives for the better.

Malteser International’s work is founded on Christian values and humanitarian principles. They reach out to people in need without distinction of race, religion, or political opinion.
