As part of the Order of Malta Lourdes masses programme in Victoria, members visited the Corpus Christi Residential Aged Care Facility in Clayton on Tuesday 10 May 2021.
At the mass, residents Celine, Constance and Noel gave readings and Order of Malta Chaplain, Fr. O’Collins preached a sermon on the forthcoming feasts of the Ascension and Pentecost. Following the mass, Lourdes water, rosary beads and prayer cards were handed out by members of the Order to the 70 or so residents who attended. Members of the Order and Fr. O’Collins were then offered a light lunch and the opportunity to chat with those who attended.
The feedback from the residents was overwhelmingly positive and many articulated that they looked forward to the mass being repeated. Our members were told of one resident with advanced dementia who had a look of joy on her face to see the knights and dames in their robes enter the space set aside for mass.
