Assistance to homeless continues as another lockdown in Melbourne announced

08/07/2020

Order of Malta members, families and friends were out last night visiting the homeless in Melbourne on the back of the announcement of a 6 week lockdown of the city with the outbreak of 2nd wave of Covid-19 infections.

Coats for the homeless and our new Covid care packs were given out to large numbers of people who have little support during these trying times. There have been temporary government housing schemes to help those sleeping rough to find shelter during the pandemic but there are still many on the streets that are cold, hungry and scared.

The Order of Malta is there to talk to these people and offer warm coats, socks and sanitary items to ensure that they are experiencing some care.
