Annual Report 2021 | Malteser International

03/08/2022

The International Relief Agency of the Order of Malta, Malteser International’s Annual Report 2021 tells some of the many stories of hope, of gratitude and of immense commitment that resulted from their work and the generosity of donors. Last year alone, they were able to reach 3.3 million people in 35 countries with 140 projects last year.

There have never been so many refugees before. In 2021, almost 90 million people had to leave their homes. More than 800 million people worldwide suffered from hunger. The effects of climate change, armed conflicts, the Corona pandemic, as well as exploding prices for wheat, cooking oil, fertilizer, and fuel as a result of the Ukrainian war are just some of the reasons for so much suffering. We are faced with multiple crises: The need for humanitarian aid has never been greater.

It will take a concerted effort to combat these huge challenges. And yet the strong network of the Order of Malta, as well as the trust shown to us by our donors gives us the confidence that we will be able to continue to do the best we can to support people in need.
