Advent – Order of Malta in Brisbane serve homeless through ECM

15/12/2021

Twelve Order of Malta Members, Candidates and Volunteers welcomed over 50 people in need to share free breakfast, drinks, a BBQ lunch, essential care items, friendly conversations and expectant Advent spirit at the Emmanuel City Mission in Brisbane.

As our year of monthly, and recently twice-a-month service, nears Christmas, ECM Team Leader David thanked our OMV Australia cohort:

“God bless the Order of Malta Volunteers and your family, you all make such a difference to how smoothly ECM runs, and it provides such relief on Sundays, which provide their own unique business and challenges. Keen to see you during the Christmas festival. Your friendship in Christ is a great encouragement”.

An attendee nicknamed “Tim-Tam” also looks forward to seeing the Order of Malta during the ECM Christmas Festival, wherein the ECM sanctuary will remain open 24/7 in the week leading into Christmas. An especially vulnerable time for people confronting isolation and hardship.

Members and volunteers of the Order of Malta are covering the 10.00 pm to 2.00 “midnight” shift during the week leading into and including Christmas Eve.

Register your interest in joining our OMV team.
