Coats for the Homeless – Australia Wide

18/04/2018

COVER THE NEED. SHARE THE WARMTH. GIVE A COAT.

Every day almost 20,000 Australians are sleeping rough on the streets of our towns and cities. Half of all the people who people who request accommodation from the homeless service system are turned away each day due to lack of beds. This leaves them extremely vulnerable to the cold weather.

$100 will buy three specially designed, warm shower-proof coats for people who find themselves without a home this winter.

Why a buy them a Coat?

We spent time at the Matthew Talbot Hostel in Sydney to understand the needs of the residents. As a result a three–quarter length coat, quilted and warm; shower proof; comfortable and portable, was designed with the following considerations:

    • BLACK– so to be inconspicuous in dark alleys and parks. The homeless report that their biggest fear is being assaulted.
    • SECRET INTERNAL POCKETS for their few valuables.
    • PORTABLE AND MOBILE. Our UNIQUE coat is both portable and mobile – in an emergency, the wearer simply stands up and walks (or runs) away. It is also easily worn by day in winter.

The 2019 aims to distributing 6,000 coats across Australia, free of charge, to those sleeping rough on the streets of our towns and cities.
